Are you curious about this "raw food lifestyle" you keep hearing about?! Come to a local Raw Food Meetup to have fun, share raw food meals, and discuss diet and health issues. We'll have speakers, see live food prep demos and learn a lot. Anyone interested in the raw/live food diet and lifestyle is welcome! Our purpose is to provide support, share knowledge and eat things that make us feel great. It doesn't matter if you are 100% raw vegan or just want to learn more, all are welcome!
Our group is not a Club or a Guild. We're a very laid back group. There are no dues or fees... and there never will be. When you come to our gatherings, we want you to work on what YOU want to work on. We want to share in our craft and in each other's lives. Metro Knitters is a very diverse group of people! We come from all walks of life in the area. It's always interesting to get together and get to know each other. We've become a close-knit (ha) group, but always welcome newcomers to join us.
So there you have it... no fees, no dues, no pressure. Just come and knit with us!
Join our european social organization where speakers of French, Italian, German, Spanish, Russian, Portuguese, and many other european languages get together at public venues and house parties for food, drink and fun speaking many languages.
Join a nature club yourself, with your family or a favorite youth you like to spend time with and reap the rewards. This group will encourage families and friends to explore Des Moines and Polk County parks together.
Clubs will meet on a regular basis and will be equipped with monthly tips about which parks would be interesting to visit for special reasons that month. Check out springs woodland flowers at Greenwood Park or the lilac arboretum at Ewing Park. Photograph the prairies summertime flowers and butterflies at Glendale Cemetery and bundle up for a visit to the Scott Street Bridge or Grays Lake to see the bald eagles. While there try to spot signs of beavers at work to build their log homes. Take your binoculars to Easter Lake Park for bird watching or lace up your hiking boots for a winter wonderland woodland hike at Brown's Woods Park.
Club members can learn safety tips too, like poison ivy identification and dressing to stay warm for a cold day of sledding or skating at one of Des Moines golf courses or neighborhood park lagoons. Club members will even get book recommendations based on the season, as well as a list of suggested activities.
The Des Moines Park and Recreation Department, Polk County Conservation, Des Moines Public Libraries, Des Moines Area Community College and other partners have joined forces to offer this FREE innovative program. The Friends of Des Moines Parks is sponsoring the new initiative to help families discover the great outdoors together.

"If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen."- Samuel Adams
Meet other local childfree singles and couples to expand our social circles to include more non-breeders. I hope that this group will be a place where we can meet other people who we don't have to explain ourselves to. The purpose is not to discuss the lack of children ad-nauseum, but rather to have fun get togethers with other people who can come out and play without hiring a sitter, even on a weeknight!

"NEVER SHALL ONE GENERATION OF VETERANS ABANDON ANOTHER!
The willingness with which young people are likely to serve in war, no matter how justified, is directly proportional to how they perceive how veterans of earlier wars were treated and appreciated by their country. - George Washington
IDVC Vision: By the Year 2010, the Iowa Democratic Veterans' Caucus will be the recognized voice for veterans and their families within the Iowa Democratic Party and IDVC will act as the voice of Democrats in the Veterans' community by setting the IDP legislative and policy agenda for issues affecting Veterans, their families and their communities.
The immediate goal of this group is to establish a network of county veterans' caucuses with a veterans' liaison as a function of the County's Democratic Central Committee. These county veterans' groups will work through the Districts' and state leadership to elevate issues affecting veterans and their families within the Iowa Democratic Party.
Consider this "Our Second Call to Duty"!
The Iowa Democratic Veterans' Caucus is supported in part through contributions to the Iowa Veteran's Victory Fund. http://www.actblue.com/page/idvc

Our MISSION is to 1) inspire... 2) educate... 3) equip... people to build and grow their own home business, whatever it may be.
FYR does not represent or promote any particular company/product/service. Each member brings with them passion, expertise, knowledge and experience that all members can appreciate and learn from, as well as products/services that may benefit other members.
Unlike other networking groups focused on sharing leads or promoting individual businesses, FYR's primary purpose is to cheer each other on, inspire and motivate members to succeed, share success stories, and provide business-building and marketing resources all members can use to build their business. FYR monthly meetings feature fun icebreakers, inspiration & motivation, member/business introductions, small group discussion, prizes, speakers and success stories, business-building tools and resources.
Please browse our website, read our "About Us" page, take a peek at pictures from our meetings, check out our members and their businesses and what they have to say about FYR, look in our Files for some inspiration, and e-mail our group organizer with questions and ideas.
Since kicking off in October last year, dozens of business owners and people looking for a home business have attended our monthly meetings. So tell your friends about our group and join us for our next FYR meeting on Sunday, January 17th! (details below) See you there!

The whole purpose of this group is to avoid the loneliness SAHM's often feel. We encourage members to be active in our group and have several activities each week to do. We don't have one type of 'average' meet up - we do all sorts of things! Tours of local businesses (fire department, dairy farm, police station, etc), stroll through the malls, walk the neighborhood trails, dine at local restaurants - both with and without our children, play dates at member's homes, and the zoo.
In order for us to effectively and successfully run this group, membership is limited to 100 members. Upon applying to the group you'll be notified if there is an available opening. If there is, Jessica G. will contact you to get your first event set up. Once you attend the meet-n-greet and have a completed profile with a picture of you/your child, you will be able to view the rest of the site that is hidden from the general public.
If we are at capacity and there are no openings available - don't give up just yet. We will keep your application on file (you won't be able to see it, but we can) and as soon as a spot becomes available you'll be notified.
-Kristen, Organizer of The Des Moines Area Super M.O.M.s
All moms - SAHM, WAHM, and moms working outside the home - are welcome! CONVOCATION CALL TO DSM & CENTRAL IA WITCHY WOMEN BY WRITER & RECORDING ARTIST LADY ISADORA, aka "DIZZY AURA"/"DIZ":
My spellbinding sisters, I firmly believe that every one of you is a priestess in her own right, be you novice, old hand, or somewhere in between. Every participant will be considered both faculty and student in the hallowed halls of *our* Academe! (Not a typo? "Academe" is the poetic form of Ancient Greek "akademeia", originally a philosophers' grove near Athens.) No one will be required to teach officially, but all will be entitled to do so, if desired.
"Bluestockings" were originally bookish, scholarly, scribbling dames with perpetually ink-stained hose. We might be a bit more like broomstick-wielding Pippi Longstockings gone wild at Miss Cackle's Academy for Wayward Witches. No boredom. No regimentation. No arduous rote memorization of Witchiplication tables. We will brainstorm, bewitch, share individual & collective expertise, perform inspiring rituals, hobnob, hurraya, sing, dance, laugh, cry, play, & explore in sisterhood together what it means to be diva devotees of the Goddess.
Doing my part, as ever, to help Witches take over the world!!!
Background: I love the arts and tend to travel a lot to go to events like film festivals, fringe festivals, and music festivals, but with the white wall of death this winter I've been forced to stay in Des Moines and have begun to realize that our community has a lot to offer, but everyone I know lives far away from Des Moines.
Purpose: To create a close group of individuals that love and appreciate the arts and who want to be active in our creative community.
Who should Join: Individuals that love artistic/creative events and that will actually go! My guess is that some of these will cost, but hopefully there will be free ones. No cost to join the group though.
Events I'd like to see: Live Music Concert Outings(Mews, HOB, People's etc), Attendance at Art Openings, Tours of Des Moines from multiple perspectives(photography view, architectural), Theater Events, and much more.
Join this outstanding group of friendly moms in the Des Moines area. Mommy Milk of Des Moines likes to gather with our children for socializing, support and encouragement. All gatherings are of course breastfeeding friendly. We want to build a group of friends that will last for many years to come, allow our children to socialize and interact with others, learn new things, and grow up strong and healthy. Our group supports breastfeeding, cloth diapering, homemade babyfood, babywearing, and/or co-sleeping. Most of our activities, discussions, and events will be geared towards mamas-to-be and mamas with babies under five years of age, but everyone is welcome.
Our goal is simple: To educate and support healthy lifestyle choices by providing free community workshops. Our plan is to protect the health of our community one healthy habit at a time!
Champs Networking Group is a private business networking group for Des Moines professionals that meets on the first and third Thursdays of every month.
We do have an industry exclusivity agreement with our members, so please join our MeetUp or email an organizer to ensure that there are no conflicting interests before attending a meeting!

Throughout the ages we, as a people, have been striving to transcend the limits of our physical bodies and understand our relationship to the universe. We have sought to understand the forces of the world around us to ease our fears of the unknown.
Science has made tremendous advances into the physical search of our universe. Within us all there are still questions that need to be answered for us to better understand our experiences in life: Who am I? Where did I come from? Why am I here? Where am I going? In Astro-Soul® you will find personal answers to these questions!
Astro-Soul® is the spiritual science of exploration into the fifth dimension and the unconscious mind. In the fifth dimension we can see without eyes, hear without ears and feel without physical bodies.

Specifically in Astro-Soul® through the first 4 steps of the community program Orientation Lectures, Technique Workshops, Ongoing Classes and Private Consultation you will:
Learn to move from space time to light time the dimension beyond the physical senses and come to know that you are a pattern of energy that can travel at least as fast as the speed of light.
Understand the difference between Astral and Astro and take an Astro Trips to the Source. Learn about the 4 Zones of Consciousness surrounding Earth and how this relates to souls who have passed on.
Build a Self Healing and Cleansing technique to the intensity of a laser that will cut through any negativity or confusion and learn how to use it in your everyday life.
Discover the 4 unique psychic perceptions that gather information from the fifth dimension. Experience techniques to instantly receive clairaudient and psychometric messages that can not only help you in your relationships and business, but also help those around you.
Explore the reality of life after death and reincarnation you have been here before!

She is a Certified Yoga Teacher by International Federation of Yoga and Meditation ATMAN since 2009.

The Organizer Team met in 2009 at a Baby Playdate at the Organizer's house. They had so much in common, especially with kids close in age, they thought it would be great to have a playgroup so their Munchkins could grow up together. Munchkin Mamas is an open-minded group in the area. If you attend a meetup you can pretty much guarantee that we'll be talking about organics, breastfeeding, home remedies, co-sleeping, natural living, VBACs...you get the idea...we talk about all the controversial stuff and appreciate our differing, but supportive views.
Our name says it all... we are a group of moms that are looking for interaction for ourselves and our children on evenings and weekends. Most of us work outside of the home, but we welcome SAHM and WAHM as well! Activities include indoor and outdoor play dates (parks, mall, pools, zoo, library) as well as Mom's Nights Out (movies, dinner, game nights, manicures). Our play dates are targeted for children that are walking age and older, but we welcome moms with all ages of children.
We are an active group, with activities weekly, and we expect our members to stay active. If this sounds like a group for you, please e-mail the organizer, learn more about us on the "About Us" link or simply request to join today!
All Intenders are welcome. We intend to gather a large group of people interested in the Intention Process for the Highest Good on a monthly schedule to energize our intentions, big and small. We will follow the process structure created by Tony Burroughs at www.Intenders.com . As we all know, the more people present in the circle at one time, the more powerful the experience. We intend that your $1 donation at each meeting will cover the cost of this website.
Get ready for some INSANE workouts! If you've seen the commercials for INSANITY, P90X, ChaLEAN Extreme, Turbo Jam or Hip Hop Abs, now you have the chance to try out some of the moves with a group of people looking for new, fun workouts that ACTUALLY WORK! We will do these in a variety of ways: INSANITY in the Park, Free Fitness Saturdays and Body Power Boot Camp!
I'm Rebecca Ingham and I am a fitness professional, personal trainer, boot camp director and a coach with Beachbody. I am always looking for new, fun, interesting ways to get fit and have made it a personal mission to help as many people as I possibly can do the same. That is why I am starting this Fit Club and want to get to as many people as I possibly can. So please let your friends, family, coworkers and others know about these meetups. With all the information we know about what being overweight, not exercising and not eating right does to our health, there is NO REASON for this to continue to be an issue. So, for a little while each week, lose the excuses and get moving with us!
We will meet in a variety of parks around the metro, but please feel free to join us, regardless of where we end up each week! The metro has so many wonderful parks, so we will sure find a way to check out lots of them!
We will workout for approximately 45 minutes in most classes, then you are welcome to hang out for a little while longer to try some Shakeology, check out the other programs, or find out about Beachbody, the company and how you could earn an income helping others get fit and healthy!
Meetups will be weather permitting, as of right now, but if anyone knows of a location where we can meet and workout that is indoors, PLEASE feel free to pass it on to me!
This will be an amazing opportunity to get with others to check out what goes on in these workouts, meet others with the same interest and blast some calories, all at the same time! I look forward to meeting you and helping you reach your goals!

Meet with Zouk and African Music fans in your town.
Zouk is a style of rhythmic music originating from the French Caribbean islands of Guadeloupe and Martinique. It has its roots in Cadence music from Dominica, as popularised by Grammacks and Exile One. Zouk means 'party' in the local creole of French with English and African influences, all three of which contribute the sound. In Europe it is particularly popular in France, while on the African islands of Cape Verde they have developed their own type of Zouk.
I was born in Guadeloupe and I'm french. I'm looking for people interested to learn Zouk and interested in the French West indies culture.

A group with 3 very active members, to me, is better than a list of 50 people who never meet. So, as soon as we get a few people ready to meet, we will put our heads together and get our first meeting set up. After that, we will schedule events throughout the area as often as members would like.
**If someone would like to act as a CO-ORGANIZER and maybe help with organizing events closer to Ames, let me know! I would like to have some events in both areas at different times so that distance isn't an issue for anyone.
Entrepreneurial moms meet and network with each other. Anyone who owns a business, wants to own one, is working on a creative venture, or wants to be around other business women in Des Moines and surrounding areas can be a part of this Meetup. You do not have to be a business owner yet.
This Meetup will focus on networking, helping each other through trials and tribulations, questions, problems, educating, and empowering each other. Experts and our own members speak at each get-together on topics of interest. And, of course, we're kid-friendly, too!
We want to know more about you and your venture. Let's take each other's businesses out to our own networks and help each other thrive.
We welcome all business-minded moms to join. We encourage you to visit The Momtrepreneur Maven at www.momtrepreneurmaven.com to read more about the organizer.
We are not accepting new members at this time. We are simply a group of friends, with children of similar ages, looking for an easier way to stay organized and plan playdates.
This group meets to share our experience trading the forex world currency exchange. We are working together to improve our trading by comparing the results of high probability trading strategies we are using. We welcome any new or different ideas that are proven to be profitable. We want to have more members, so if you trade currency and would like to compare notes with some other traders you should join our meetup group.
A casual group for those who have suffered from, or are dealing with, issues with postpartum depression and anxiety. A chance to connect with, and support, other women in a similar situation.
We are a group of inline skaters that would like to bring inline back to the city. The greater Des Moines area has many trails, tracks, and rinks that are perfect for inline skating.
We would like to start weekly skate events with the goal to be primarily outside (weather permitting), but will move indoors when we need to.
The club will be for all levels of inline skating from fitness to competitive. The skates will vary as our membership grows. If your new to inline skating we can hook you up with some of the best for a couple of lessons before you hit the trails.
Our small group of young professionals meet once a month every third Thursday in Beaverdale (location determined a week in advance) at 6pm to welcome new members and to decide how we can better the neighborhood by sponsoring fun events or through volunteer work (these meetings tend to be more social than anything). Feel free to stop by and learn more and decide whether or not you would like to join. If you decide you would like to join, please pay the annual due on this site or pay in person at the next event. Cheers!
This page is dedicated to those that live in the area, and want to find a group of players, or join a game that is currently in motion. This meetup page can be used for any RP game under the sun, but most players here are knowledgeable in Pathfinder, and Dungeons and Dragons 3.x.
There is currently 1 game in the Des Moines area that is taking place with the members on this page. The game is of the Pathfinder setting, and consists largely of a free form environment in which the quests offered are directly related player's actions.
A full wiki (http://173.25.249.104/mymediawiki/index.php/Main_Page) is set up around this game, and is used by the DM as well as all the players. The game meets up every friday, and plays from three to four hours.
This game is currently looking for one or two more players. Please contact the organizer of this page for more information if you are interested.
Meet other local fans of author Ayn Rand and her philosophy of Objectivism -- a philosophy of Reason, Purpose and Self-Esteem that holds human life on this Earth as the standard of all values and *your* life as an end in itself.
Currently we are not accepting new members. We are a group of moms with similar aged kids that had the need to feel a little more organized. Now we have our own calendar!
This group will help its members save money! Among the things we will do: trade coupons, refund items/info, frugal living info, where is the best place to shop to save money and any other money saving information--what store has what items on clearance and unadvertised sales, etc! It's all about being frugal!
Other topics that could be included: saving money through Gardening, Canning, CSAs, Freezer Cooking, Once a Month Cooking, Frugal Recipes, How to make Household Cleaners and Laundry Soap and saving money by Menu Planning, etc.
Share any info on any topic that involves saving money in this group! It's all about saving money while having fun!
**Unfortunately, since they charge me to put this info on this website, :( there will be a small membership fee--probably about $1 each (only enough to cover my costs to this website). The fee will decrease as the number of members increase OR be eliminated when we get sponsor(s) for this listing.
I'm certain you will find enough coupons alone, to more than offset the small memberhsip fee!
I plan on hosting the Meetings at my home (7 miles east of Indianola on Highway 92) OR we can meet elsewhere (for example at the Indianola Library)--whatever the Members choose!

As a consumer, I like to buy from individuals who go the extra mile and who deserve and appreciate my business. As the father of a son with Autism, I believe I will work harder to earn the business of others so I can support my son now - and forever. I started this group to help others in a similar situation grow and develop personally and financially.
Let's get together and share stories and referrals and truly grow by expanding our network of good parents, good business professionals and have a good time doing it.
REQUIREMENTS: To join, you must have a child or family member facing a special health challenge of some sort. If you need a job, a better job or just more and better customers, clients, or patients, let's refer some to one another.
I will meet one on one or in group settings for coffee before work, over the lunch hour or after the kids are asleep. It helps to talk things out, be positive and get encouragement and support.
My purpose is not to sell you. We won't even talk about what I sell. I just want to get people together so we can all connect, live great lives and support our great kids.

Are you 40+ and finding it difficult to meet people? Most of my friends are married and or running their children around to sports, etc. I know that I need to get out of the house and have some companionship while exploring the fun options that our city has to offer. I hope you'll come out and join the group - meet some new friends and have some fun being single in the city!
I am a private foreign exchange trader and I also collaborate with and do contract work for private investors/traders, hedge funds, CTAs, and CPOs worldwide. My focus is on mechanical trading systems including market research, design/programming, testing, statistical analysis, and strategy implementation.
I have spent 1,000s of hours analyzing the markets and I can tell you that:
- 99% of the trading information available in books, online, and even paid services is misleading or flat out lies
- the concepts you likely think are important are probably not that critical
- trading is a real business and must be treated as such to be successful
The purpose of this group is to network, share ideas and resources, and socialize with local traders. I love to discuss trading. Trading is primarily an isolated activity, with little peer interaction. The purpose of the meeting fee is to weed out the time wasters and people who think they deserve something for nothing. If you feel like you've wasted your money at the end of a meeting, I will refund it. Just don't bother stopping by in the future!
"We, who live by values, not by loot, are traders, both in matter and in spirit. A trader is a man who earns what he gets and does not give or take the undeserved. A trader does not ask to be paid for his failures, nor does he ask to be loved for his flaws..." - Atlas Shrugged, by Ayn Rand "This is John Galt Speaking"
Your business success will be the average of the people you tend to spend time with. Hang with successful business people seeking greater success. With much talent much is expected. This group places you with people successful in both business and their personal lives and now expect more and are reaching higher.
