I just want people to have a place(myself included) to find people who want to get out and have fun in the Des Moines area. There's so much to do, but it seems like you have to dig to find out what's happening and where. We tend to focus around artistic events such as concerts, poetry slams, and art shows, but the group is open for all events. I'd like to see more sporting events(roller Derby, Soccer, hockey, the area has it all) and more creative events that are out there. I'm Rebecca Ingham and I am a fitness professional, personal trainer, boot camp director and a coach with Beachbody. I am always looking for new, fun, interesting ways to get fit and have made it a personal mission to help as many people as I possibly can do the same. That is why I am starting this Fit Club group and want to get to as many people as I possibly can. So please let your friends, family, coworkers and others know about these meetups. With all the information we know about what being overweight, not exercising and not eating right does to our health, there is NO REASON for this to continue to be an issue. So, for a little while each week, lose the excuses and get moving with us!
We will meet in a variety of places around the metro, but please feel free to join us, regardless of where we end up each week! Our usual locations will be Motiviation Training Studio in Clive, Complete Wellness Chiropractic in West Des Moines, and Lions and Walker Johnston Parks in Urbandale.
In some of the classes, we will workout for approximately 45 minutes in most classes, then you are welcome to hang out for a little while longer to try some Shakeology, check out the other programs, or find out about Beachbody, the company and how you could earn an income helping others get fit and healthy! These classes will always be free to all that attend.

In order for us to effectively and successfully run this group, membership is limited to 100 members. Upon applying to the group you'll be notified if there is an available opening. If there is, you will be contacted to get your first event set up. We are a MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) group that meets two Wednesday mornings a month at Rising Sun Church in Pleasant Hill. We welcome any mom who is pregnant and/or has an infant, toddler or preschooler. We recognize that the years from infancy through kindergarten are foundational in the mother-child relationship and are filled with unique needs. Join our group and we will support each other, become better moms, and have fun!
Dues are $37.50 per semester, due in September and in January.
Johnston Friends and Neighbors is a great group of women who want to get involved and feel more connected within the community. We meet regularly for coffee, playgroups, ladies night out and post updated community/local events on our calendar. We are so glad you're here! Our goal is to help you build friendships with other moms, offer support to each other and have some fun! This group can be whatever we want to make it - including events both with and without the kids. You have the option to participate in whatever activities work for you however we do ask that you participate in some form. Many events will be held during the weekdays however moms who work outside the home or who work part-time are certainly welcome to attend if it works with your schedule. Some examples... playdate at the church or someone's home, lunch out, "moms only" craft, sewing, scrapbooking, etc. night, or meet at local park, zoo, Science Center, etc. We will also promote activities that are for moms that are offered at Hope such as Bible studies or other women's ministry opportunities so it is a great way to get more connected with our church community.
This group is sponsored by and is a part of Lutheran Church of Hope. The activities will be focused on the west side of Des Moines since the majority of moms attend the West Des Moines campus. Our group is entirely volunteer-led by the members in the group so the group's success is dependent on moms like you who want to be an active part of a fun group of Christian moms. There is a $6 registration fee which covers the website fees, cost for our Hope bracelets (we use these to help identify each other at activities), and if we have any extra money, we can use that for incidentals. The first thing you have to learn when you are new is to "protect yourself" from bad advice.
I would suggest that if you have no money, being told to put expensive real estate investing, internet marketing, MLM, network marketing, or any other kind of "education", "training", "mentoring" or "courses" on your credit card, with the promise that you will "make it all back quickly"
is very bad advice and is hurting a lot of nieve people.
Just because someone is a "best selling author", or some kind of "celebrity is no guarantee that they are interested in your "success" often, it is just your money.

Zouk is a style of rhythmic music originating from the French Caribbean islands of Guadeloupe and Martinique. It has its roots in Cadence music from Dominica, as popularised by Grammacks and Exile One. Zouk means 'party' in the local creole of French with English and African influences, all three of which contribute the sound. In Europe it is particularly popular in France, while on the African islands of Cape Verde they have developed their own type of Zouk.

MOMSnext is for moms of school-aged children. It is an extension of MOPS International. We meet the 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month in the morning, during the regular school year at Lutheran Church of Hope in West Des Moines. This website is our online home which serves as member directory, discussion board, file folder and event calendar. If you are interested in joining, please contact us so you may attend a meeting. We would love to meet you! Registration is $55.95 for the remainder of this school year (January to August 2012). A portion of that fee goes to MOPS International. Regular meetings end in May for summer break however we may have summer activities planned also.
It is a requirement of our group that you attending a meeting and register for the group before joining on this website since the website is just an extension of the face to face group. While we do meet at Lutheran Church of Hope, it is not a requirement that you attend Hope. All are welcome!

This group is open to members of the Iowa Democratic Party who are active duty personnel, members of the National Guard and Reserves, retired military and/or honorably discharged members of the Armed Forces of the United States of Americans.
The immediate goal of the Iowa Democratic Veterans Caucus is to establish a network of county veterans' caucuses with a veterans' liaison as a function of each County's Democratic Central Committee. These county veterans' groups will work through the Districts' and state leadership to elevate issues affecting veterans and their families within the Iowa Democratic Party. Meet other single professionals near you! Events are based on the incredibly hot, new, exciting way for singles to meet other singles -- speed dating! Rather than wasting time hanging out in a bar or going on uncomfortable blind dates, we give single professionals the ability to meet up to twelve eligible singles with, 6-minute "PreDates" -- all in one fun evening. Speed dating parties are held at local upscale restaurants. Guests register online and then check in the night of the party and receive numbered nametags, special scorecards and seat assignments at one of many tables for two. After some refreshments and mingling, party hosts get the dating started by ringing a bell. After each six-minute date, couples mark their scorecards with a "YES" or "NO", noting whom they would like to hear from again. Each bell ringing signals a move to the next date, men move up the row of tables until the final date is complete. We've all experienced injustice one way or another at some point in our lifetime. Usually we just deal with it ourselves or try to find some way to fix it or accept it. If that doesn't work, there's always the court system we can go through to try to get it resolved.
But when injustice happens where it shouldn't and when you least expect it, when the very people who claim they're there to help you with a problem actually exacerbate, or add to the problem, then lie out of both sides of their mouth about it, you begin to realize they weren't there to help you resolve the problem at all. Who would do something like that if they were truly there to help you? Their goal all along may have been to steal from you - not help you, to take as much money as they could possibly get out of you, then leave you practically penniless or as deep in debt as they could in an attempt to make sure you wouldn't be able to do anything about them stealing from you. I guess if you were rendered penniless, that would certainly take care of that, wouldn't it. But if something like this happens, isn't there something you can do about it? Well, you could probably file a complaint against them, maybe even a police report, and you could probably yell and scream until you're blue in the face about what they did to you. But that doesn't take care of the problem you originally wanted help for, and now you have another one. You may not have enough finances left to get help for either case now - but yes, there is something else you can do.
You still have a voice, and sometimes that, in and of itself can be the most powerful and rewarding tool of all. If you've ever had to go through anything like this before, you may have thought to yourself, "if only I had known about these people beforehand, I would've never asked for their help to begin with". Who are these people who have wronged you? Might other people benefit from knowing who they are so they don't become victims themselves? Obviously, the pain and suffering people endure when something like this happens can be absolutely devastating because in this day and age, financial loss can negatively affect every single aspect of a person's life. One of the most important things to realize though is that you're not alone. There are others out there who've also experienced an unwarranted injustice and no longer want to suffer in silence, and no longer feel they should have to.
Let us band together, share our experiences, and lend an ear or soft shoulder. Unfortunately, this is not a group that can offer monetary assistance, but rather one that will offer compassion, understanding, and comfort to those who have been so terribly wronged. For in the end, the thing that can sustain us the most and help get us through anything life throws our way, is just knowing that there are people out there that really and truly do care!
Come join us for a relaxing time and friendly conversation. We will meet maybe once a month or so at a restaurant possibly in Urbandale or West Des Moines. However, depending on the number of participants, we may decide to have meetings at one of the libraries. If you are elderly or disabled, and want to come to our meetings but do not have a ride, please let me know ahead of time, and we'll do our best to get one for you.
